Hockey Blast

Privacy

What we collect, what we refuse to, and who can see it.

Your hockey data

Player stats, rosters, and game data come from public league scoresheets. Claiming a player links it to your account; if you want your player removed from search and video entirely, ask us — there is a global opt-out and it is enforced everywhere, from search to clip playback.

Usage analytics

While the site is in beta we log which pages you visit and how long they are visibly on screen, tied to your account while you are logged in, so we can tell which features matter and which don't. This data never leaves our own database, is read only by the site admin, and is never shown to other users.

What we deliberately do not record: your IP address, exact profile pages as identities (we store page typeslike “a player profile”, not whichplayer's — so there is no record of who looked at whom), search terms or URL parameters, and your browser fingerprint. Logged-out visitors are not linked across days, and we honor the Global Privacy Control signal for logged-out visits. There are no third-party analytics, ad pixels, or trackers anywhere on the site — and no advertising cookies, because there are no ads.

Detailed logs are kept for about 90 days; only aggregate counts (daily totals per page type) are kept longer. If your account is ever deleted, its analytics rows go with it.

Video clips

Game video links are short-lived and generated per viewer — they are never published in emails or previews. Players who opt out are excluded from clip playback entirely.

Finding players for a game

If you tell us you'd fill in or that you're looking for a team, we keep your answers — positions, rinks, a note — and use them to tell you about games. People looking for a team are listed for team captains and managers only. You can pause or switch it all off in Settings.

When a team needs a goalie, its captain sees which goalies are scheduled at the same rink that night and who usually plays in net for those teams, taken from the public scoresheets. This list is shown only to the people running that request — the team's captain, assistants and managers, or its own goalie when they are the one who posted it — only in the day and a half before the game, and never includes anyone who opted out. Because it says where a person is expected to be, we do keep a record of each time it is opened— who opened it and for which game — so that misuse can be traced. Goalies with an account can leave the list for good with “Never suggest me to captains” in Settings; anyone else can ask us.

Phone numbers and text messages

A phone number is never required. If you add one, we store it, the date you agreed to texts and the exact words you agreed to. We confirm it is yours with a code before using it. It is shown to another person only when you choose that, for that purpose: on a request you post for your team (“put my number on this request”), or to a captain when you say you can play. It never appears on a public page, in a link preview, or to a signed-out visitor.

We do not sell, rent or share phone numbers or text-message consent with anyone for their own marketing. Texts are delivered for us by Twilio and emails by Cloudflare; they receive the number or address and the message, to deliver it, and nothing else. Reply STOP to any text and we delete the number. Details: text message terms.

We keep delivery receipts (sent, delivered, failed — with the last four digits of the number) for about 90 days, to notice when texts stop arriving. We do not keep the content of texts you send us, beyond recognising STOP, START and HELP.

Questions

This is a small community site run by people you probably know from the rink. If anything here concerns you, reach out and we will fix it or delete it.
